The GO BIG team is excited to kick off a new feature to the blog! We are highlighting departmental “Bright Spots” in the Division of Student Affairs who are already living the principles of pride, trust, and community! For the month of November, we are featuring Student Affairs Information Technologies (SAIT), who have created intentional ways to build a learning community within their workforce. Watch this quick 2 1/2 minute video to learn about their story!
James Dudek, Director of Organizational Strategy for SAIT gave us 3 tips for managers as it relates to building a learning community in one’s own organization:
- Surf LinkedIn to find out what other managers are doing for professional development activities.
- Consider joining a work group on LinkedIn to keep abreast of conversations in your field. Encourage your staff to do the same.
- Figure out what kinds of certifications people in your field have and see if there is a way to get your staff certified.
Thanks to you, SAIT, for exemplifying ways to connect staff to one another by focusing on staff development and providing learning opportunities–all while building community at the same time!
